Last blog entry. Tomorrow is my last day at UNEP and the day after that I fly back to Sweden. I’m so happy that I came here and so sad to leave. The only regret I have is that I did not apply and plan for a 6 month long internship instead of only 3 months. If you are given the chance to do an internship here at the UNEP CAR-RCU, don’t miss it!

The last weeks I’ve had various assignments. Yesterday I went through 38 project proposals to find 6-7 that would be suitable for Alessandra to review. I’m amazed by how many interesting research and conservation projects people are seeking to do. It truly gives hope for the environment. Today I’m writing my exit report and filling in the internship questionnaire. Once again, so sad to leave..

During the course of my internship my faith in international cooperation to solve complex environmental issues has been strengthened and it has been inspiring to see all the things that are being done to improve the management and conservation of species and habitats in this region. SPAW, keep up the good work!

Challenges faced: Understanding the project proposals written in Spanish was a bit of a challenge.

Lessons learned: It’s always worth working for what you believe in.
