It is amazing how fast three months come to an end. I have been able to see and accomplish so much in Jamaica. It has been an exciting adventure. With my fellow interns, I have been able to see beautiful landscapes, ranging from the Blue Mountains and Reach Falls to the white sand beaches of Negril.

I have made many new friends, most I know I will stay in contact with. I would recommend this country to any one that has ever wanted to experience the Caribbean.

As for working at UNEP I have been able to learn a lot about the organization while being able to contribute to important projects. I am very lucky that my position through the Climate Change Adaptation & Disaster Risk Reduction Project has allowed me to go to small communities and interact with the locals. I have also had the chance to work with a lot of amazing people in the office and participate in meetings with people from all around the world. It has been an interesting experience for sure.

With a few more months I feel like I could have accomplished a lot, since it feels like things are just getting started.

Sometimes it took a lot of time to get going on important projects. However, productive research and brainstorming are important skills that will help you become more acquainted with the theme for projects that are not yet fully developed.

Lessons Learned
Take initiative and don’t be afraid to ask questions. The UNEP-CAR/RCU office has a wonderful group of people working in it!
