The internship has been going very well. I have learnt a lot from just being in the office and witnessing how a UN office works and who it partners with. A few of us interns even got to go to the regional release of the UNDP’s Human Development Report.
I am currently working on three different projects. The most exciting project-the Climate Change Adaptation & Disaster Risk Reduction Project- involves GOJ/EU/UNEP. Through this project I get to go to various communities around Jamaica and assess their knowledge of Climate Change. This has been a great experience and I have learned a lot about Jamaica and how the citizens view the environment through talking with locals.
Since I have to work with many offices and agencies that are located outside of the UNEP CEP building it has been a challenge to try and coordinate dates, ideas, and tasks. This has slowed down some parts of my projects, especially the ones that are coordinated outside the office; however, there is still always something to do.
It has been interesting to see all the different partnerships that are formed through various projects and initiatives.
