My internship at NEPA has already ended as I write this post. In-fact, I am typing this out in the terminal of Norman Manley International as I wait for my flight off of the island. A late night rush to pack, short sleep and an early morning taxi ride around Kingston Harbour and down the thin line of the Palisadoes and my internship is now the past. I look out at the city, removed from me by the peaceful harbor, and the dawn light is dusk as well.

The highlight of the past few weeks is without a doubt the field trip I got the chance to go on! UNEP CEP was asked to give a presentation on Protecting the Environment to a group of 7th and 8th graders as part of Dream Jamaica’s Summer Exploration Programme. I was very excited to go as I had been hoping something like this would pop up at least once during my internship, and it did!

My internship with UNEP will soon come to an end and I’m having a hard time reconciling with the fact that I will soon have to leave beautiful Jamaica and go back to dark and cold Europe. Brrr!

In the last month, I have delved more into specific SPAW projects by helping to write progress reports, amend Small-Scale Funding Agreements (SSFAs), and organise documents for filing.

My internship at CEP has reached its end after three months. It’s been three months of learning, learning and learning some more. As the weeks went by I saw improvements in every aspect of my work.

Last blog entry. Tomorrow is my last day at UNEP and the day after that I fly back to Sweden. I’m so happy that I came here and so sad to leave. The only regret I have is that I did not apply and plan for a 6 month long internship instead of only 3 months. If you are given the chance to do an internship here at the UNEP CAR-RCU, don’t miss it!
