I can’t believe that it’s time for me to write my third and last intern blog! Time passes by very fast in Kingston. This last month of internship was the most exciting one. I conducted the assessment with four sets of target groups including public and private sector officials, community leaders, local forest management committee members and fishermen. I used semi-structured interviews and questionnaires as tools for data collection. Each assessment session turned out to be different from others.

Finally back at work after almost a week of being sick at home.  Here it’s buzzing with activity as we have entered in to the last days of preparations before the meetings in Punta Cana next week. The staff members that will attend the meetings, which is more or less everyone, are flying out at the end of this week and there is still plenty that must be done before they leave.

The month of March was primarily focused on assisting to prepare for UN World Water Day which was held on March 22nd at Devon House, in Kingston. Devon House is a National Heritage Site, owned by the Government of Jamaica and serves to promote the development of all aspects of Jamaican culture and expression. I felt it was the perfect site to host the event.

My time with the SPAW sub-programme at the offices of the Regional Coordinating Unit of the United Nations Environment Programme , Caribbean Environment Programme, has come to an end far faster than I had anticipated. I really enjoyed my time in the office.

It is amazing how fast three months come to an end. I have been able to see and accomplish so much in Jamaica. It has been an exciting adventure. With my fellow interns, I have been able to see beautiful landscapes, ranging from the Blue Mountains and Reach Falls to the white sand beaches of Negril.

Woah, time has really flown by. The last month of my internship has certainly been a blur. I have spent the majority of July working on my technical report. Highlights from the month include the intern mid-term presentation and capacity building meeting and a site visit to the western side of the island. I have also been working on a project matrix that has really helped me familiarize myself with all of the various projects that UNEP-CEP is involved with.

My three months at the United Nations Environment Programme Caribbean Environment Programme (Regional Coordinating Unit) has flown by. The saying “time flies when you’re having fun”, is applicable to this internship which I am enjoying so much.

Blog Entry3rd Entry - 18 July 2012
Well, the deadline has just passed for governments and organisations to submit their nominations to participate in the upcoming CEP meetings in the Dominican Republic. With that said, the 16th of July was probably one of the most hectic days I have had so far at UNEP-CAR/RCU! Emails were coming in all day and, as per usual, I was responsible for ensuring that all correspondence was being recorded and followed-up on.

With only one week left in my internship, I can say this has been an interesting experience. I have had the opportunity to be a part of various programmes, with projects in different stages of development. I spent much of my last month finishing up an improved draft on Sustainable Financing Mechanisms for Water and Wastewater Treatment Projects.
