Massive Open Online Course on Marine Litter

UNEP to launch first online course on October 26, 2015

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), through the Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities (GPA), serves as the secretariat of the Global Partnership on Marine Litter (GPML), will be launching of their first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on marine litter on 26 October, 2015. This MOOC is being launched in collaboration with The Open Universities in the Netherlands. The course provides free access to audiences around the world, as well as examples and case studies that will inspire leadership at all levels, thereby increasing awareness of and stimulating creative solutions to marine litter problems. Students can choose to enroll in the leadership track for a two-week course in late October and then continue to an eight-week expert track, if they wish to learn more.


UNEP is currently calling for applicants around the world to join us for this opportunity of free learning on marine litter. Your input will assist UNEP achieve greater success in fostering knowledge exchange and technological advancement that would promote better prevention and management of marine litter.
