Caribbean Platform for Nutrient Management (CPNM)
The objectives of the meeting are to (i) understand the current priorities in respect to nutrient management in the region, (ii) agree on a plan of action for the operationalization of the Caribbean Platform for Nutrient Management, and (iii) agree on mechanisms for mainstreaming and building sustainability for the Platform into existing frameworks.
The Global Partnership on Nutrient Management (GPNM), a consortium of governments, scientists, policy makers, private sector, NGOs and international organizations was established in 2009 under the aegis of UNEP’s Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land-based Activities (GPA). The GPNM responds to the ‘nutrient challenge’ - how to reduce the amount of excess nutrients in the environment, consistent with global sustainable development agendas.
