SPAW Meetings

The meetings organized by the SPAW Programme all work toward the effective implementation of the SPAW Protocol.

Prior to the entry into force of the SPAW Protocol in June 2000, Interim Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee (ISTAC) meetings were held to familiarize member States with the Protocol and also to provide information on legislative requirements for accession.

Since then, Meetings of the Contracting Parties (COP) are held in conjunction with the Intergovernmental Meetings of CEP. Scientific, Technical and Advisory Committee (STAC) meetings are also held to provide scientific support and guidance in the implementation of the Protocol.
